The Smithers Quality Assessments team is searching for an experienced IT Manager at our office headquarters in Akron, Ohio.  Our ideal candidate is looking for a career with an established, yet continually growing company with exciting challenges.

About This Role

  • This full-time position is a leadership role within Smithers Quality Assessments as well as a contributor role to the business in the maintenance and execution of organization-wide Information Technology support needs.
  • Interfaces with other Smithers IT staff and leadership to support information systems that are shared across all Smithers member companies.
  • Assists in the development of long-term strategies and growth as well as the maintenance and support of our IT systems.
  • Responsibilities for IT information systems and services operating within other regions of the world.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include

  • Manage and oversee North American Smithers Quality Assessments IT direct function as well as Smithers China IT support needs, including purchasing, asset management, budgeting, software licensing and other compliance activities.
  • Oversee the provisioning and execution of SQA end-user services, including Help Desk tickets\
  • Maintain documentation of the SQA networks, systems and processes
  • Coordinate and manage acquisition, installation, configuration, maintenance, tags and removal of computer hardware, and peripherals, while maintaining SQA inventory.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on assigned SQA hardware and software systems.
  • Negotiate and administrate 3rd party vendor and consultant contracts and service agreements.
  • Work with IT professionals from other Smithers member companies to support any shared business systems infrastructure requirements.

Professional Experience and Skills

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or commiserate degree preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) highly preferred.
  • (5) years minimum experience directly in the IT industry or supporting IT function required.
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting PC’s in a regulated network environment.
  • Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting Windows Server and Desktop OS.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Active Directory, Exchange Server, Outlook, Project, Visio, Adobe Products; Anti-Virus and Security applications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of current computer hardware and software technologies.
  • Understanding of current global information security policies, practices and systems.
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN Networks and VPN.
  • Familiarity with iPhones, iPads, ShoreTel IP Phones, Android and Blackberry devices, laptop wireless cards.
  • Knowledge in several of the following technologies and business systems: VMWare, SQL, SQL Reports (or other reporting languages), CRM (InforCRM), MS Dynamics SL, MS SharePoint, AWS, Azure, ShareFile, Content Management System (Kentico).
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and respect for the purpose of ensuring network security.
