Lead Aerospace Auditor

Lead Aerospace Auditor AS9100D
The ideal candidate will apply their knowledge and experience in ISO 9001 and AS9100D, to assess effectiveness of organization's management system, and its conformance to appropriate standards.


  • Conducts assessments of client facilities to determine their level of conformity with the requirements of the standard.
  • Report findings verbally and in written format. Writes and submits audit reports to meet Accreditation requirements.
  • Maintain timely communications with Akron office personnel and assigned clients via voice, email, written reports, etc.
  • Must maintain a current schedule of audits in accordance with audit timing requirements and SQA procedures.
  • Must submit all reports, plans and other critical audit documentation in a timely manner in accordance with SQA procedures.
  • Must maintain acquired auditor credentials such as lead auditor certification, aerospace auditor certification, automotive auditor certification and environmental certification while auditing with SQA if gained while employed at SQA.
  • Must attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and other mandatory training sessions as scheduled by SQA management (Contract auditors are encouraged to attend).
  • Other duties may be assigned.

When assigned as an Audit Team Leader, this position will retain oversight responsibilities for the team personnel during the audit, in accordance with ISO 19011 requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • 10+ years of industrial experience with no less than 2 years in quality control/quality assurance (2 years of QC/QA must be within the last 6 years).
  • 3+ years full-time practical experience in Aerospace Sector, ‚Äčor industries with equivalent requirements in chemical, electrical or metallic commodities within the last 6 years.
  • College degree (5 years industrial experience = 1 year of a Baccalaureate degree).
  • Particular experience in manufacturing operations, engineering, supervision, management, inspector, technician, auditor, ECT. is acceptable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical reports, blue prints, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to speak effectively before clients, managers and employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contact Management systems; Internet software; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Lead Auditor certification preferred.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to perform required travel, up to 80% of the time.
