Last week, the Smithers Quality Assessments team underwent a rigorous ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor training program. All the SQA employees involved in the auditor training course were office staff, including representatives from management, sales, marketing, and IT. Although quality management system auditing is not the primary job function for these individuals at SQA, the training was invaluable for instilling a deeper appreciation of how certification helps customers reach their goals.
SQA leadership feels strongly that immersing office staff in the specifics of ISO 9001:2015 standards will improve its clients’ experience through all stages of interaction with Smithers. This training at headquarters will complement the skills and experience of our auditor group, ultimately translating into a better overall experience for the businesses we work with each day. Every decision made at Smithers keeps the client at the forefront.
The ISO 9001 training course was administered by AQS Solutions and led by a certified auditor with more than 30 years of experience in quality management systems. During the week, the class reviewed the entire ISO 9001:2015 standard in detail, including related ISO standards like ISO 9000 for proper understanding of terms and definitions. Final examinations are being scored now, and official certification for the SQA staff that participated in this training program is yet to be determined.
