The Accredited Snow Contractors Association (ASCA) first released the Industry Standards for Professional Snow and Ice Management for the 2012/2013 season. Since then, the ASCA’s Industry Standards Committee apporached the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for validation of the standard – turning their industry standard into an international stanard.

This week, the ASCA received word that they now have the American National Standard for their industry: ANSI/ASCA System Requirements for Snow and Ice Management Services: ANSI/ASCS A100-2014! The standard is scheduled to publish the first week of February.

In a communication to ASCA members and snow and ice management companies, Kevin Gilbride, ASCA-C Exceutive Director says “This is a huge step forward for the industry, raising the bar for snow and ice management services; providing the industry much needed credibility; establsihing a baseline for what defines a professional snow and ice management company; and providing a base line for your customers to compare a professional snow and ice management company to someone calling themselves a snow contractor”.
